FAQ's/FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DOES IT HURT?
Permanent makeup is not completely painless, but is generally not perceived as pain. Thanks to the latest computer- controlled equipment and anesthetic creams there is minimal discomfort. Every client is different, some will feel vibrating or scratching and some will feel nothing at all.
FOR WHO IS PERMANENT MAKEUP SUITABLE?
Almost everyone. Women and men who want to look great at any moment of the day, for those who need corrections, for people with allergies to regular makeup, for people who are active in sports.
HOW LONG DOES PERMANENT MAKEUP STAY?
In general, permanent makeup will always be present. The intensity of your permanent makeup fades in the course of time. However, this is completely dependent from person to person. This is partly due to the natural cell renewal, the immune system and the influence of UV light.
IF I DON’T LIKE PERMANENT MAKE UP, THEN WHAT?
This has never happened. Before we begin with the tattoo process, the shape will be drawn on (mapped). Your eyebrow style is compromise of your personal preference and the artist skill and training. Only when everything is to your complete satisfaction, does the procedure begin.
DO I HAVE TO CHOOSE THE COLOR BY MYSELF?
No. Your artist's special training on color theory can give you expert advice which color suits you best. You can choose from more than 66 colors for all skin types. We can also mix a one of a kind custom color blend for you.
CAN I STILL APPLY REGULAR MAKEUP?
Absolutely. Permanent makeup is not intended as replacement for evening makeup, it serves in particular to accentuate. Additional makeup can always be applied for a evening out.
CAN I WALK IN FOR A TREATMENT?
Before a permanent makeup treatment, there will always be a consultation. During the consultation you can discuss with your artist your needs and how permanent makeup can meet them, you can specify your every concern regarding permanent makeup.
HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?
Generally it takes about 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours, depending on the service you choose, including the consultation, drawing the shape, color choice and pigmentation procedure.
IS THERE ANY SPECIAL AFTER CARE?
Basically after the tattoo of permanent makeup there is no special after care needed. To ensure that your permanent makeup will be optimal, your artist will give you an aftercare kit with instructions on how to care for your skin during the healing process the skin.
IS THE END RESULT IMMEDIATELY VISIBLE?
No. The first week, the pigmentation is significantly darker than the final result. Within the first week of healing the intensity of the color will become about 40% softer. Due to scabbing the end result of pigmentation will be lighter as compared to immediately after the service, that is why this a 2 part process 6 weeks apart.
IS PERMANENT MAKEUP SAFE?
Yes. We work only under the strict rules of the Health Authorities. For every treatment a new sterile needle is used which will be destroyed immediately after every service.
IS PERMANENT MAKEUP THE SAME AS A TATTOO?
Yes. The concept is the same, with both procedures pigment is implanted into the skin with needles, but that is the only similarity. The equipment as well as the composition of the pigments, and the techniques are completely different.

POST-CARE
-
Keep the brow area clean by using a fragrance-free gel cleanser (such as Cetaphil) and water. Hands must be freshly clean. Avoid use of abrasive washcloths or sponges.
-
Allow area to completely dry before applying ointment (pay dry with paper towel or air dry).
-
Once fully dry, apply a thin layer of ointment (rice size amount).
-
Repeat above steps two times per day for 10 days after service.
-
DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring and pigment loss!
-
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for a minimum of 4 weeks after your procedure. Direct sunlight can cause the pigment to change color while it is healing and can also cause hyper pigmentation and scarring.
-
Avoid pool, sauna, steam rooms, hot showers and/or hot baths for 10 days.
-
Avoid sweating on your face for 10 days. Sweating through or on the brows will expel pigment from the dermis producing poor results.
-
Avoid sleeping on your face/brows for the first 10 days.
-
Keep your bangs and hair pulled back from your face for the first 10 days.
-
NO makeup or skincare products to be used on the treated area for 10 days.
-
After 10 days, once the area has healed completely, consider using sunblock when going out in the sun to stop the color from fading.
-
Eyebrow tinting should not be undertaken for 2 weeks after your procedure.
Please note: Area will appear darker, bolder, and sharper due to natural scabbing and healing for the first week. This is very common for all permanent cosmetic procedures.
KEEP IN MIND...
-
Exposure to the sun and tanning beds can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment.
-
Always apply sunscreen (50 SPF or greater) on brow area once completely healed.
-
Maintain removal of unwanted brow hair outside of your tattooed brow design by tweezing, threading, waxing, or razoring.
-
Do not do laser around your brow area (IPL). Some lasers may change the color of the pigment.
-
Additional brow makeup application may still be required post tattoo to achieve your desired look.
-
For further sun protection wear hats and sunglasses.
-
Yearly touchups are recommended to maintain your results.
-
Avoid using chemical skin exfoliants on the brows and forehead area. Use of these products will cause premature fading and tattoo discoloration. Examples may include but are not limited to: Glycolic Acid, Hydroquinone, Retinol, Retin A, Vitamin C, “peels” or “brightening.”
-
Any service or product used to treat hyper pigmentation on the forehead and eye area should be avoided.
Failure to properly care for your cosmetic tattoo may result in less pigment retention.
Attention Please: We strongly advise prospective new clients to book their Microshading appointments at least 2-3 months in advance of Vacations, Weddings, and Special Occasions. This allows adequate time for healing.
WHAT TO EXPECT
• Swelling, itching, scabbing, light bruising and dry tightness. Ice packs are a nice relief for swelling and bruising. Aftercare balm is nice for scabbing and tightness.
• Too dark and slightly uneven appearance. After 3-7 days the darkness will fade and once swelling dissipates unevenness usually disappears usually with an hour of leaving. The follow-up touch up is highly recommended as any concerns can be addressed.
• Color change or color loss. As the procedure area heals the color will lighten and sometimes seem to disappear. This is normal. The procedure area has to be completely healed before we can address any concerns. This takes at least four weeks.
• Needing a touch up months or years later. A follow-up touch up is recommended 6-9 weeks after the initial appointment. Thereafter maintenance may be needed every 12-18 months to keep the shape symmetrical and the color refreshed.
Failure to follow after care instructions may result in infections, pigment loss or discoloration.
